Mono Threads
MINT Mono Threads improve skin quality and firmness.
MINT Mono threads are smooth absorbable sutures placed into the dermis of the skin to firm and improve the quality of lined and sagging skin.
MINT mono threads (MINT stands for Minimally invasive Non-surgical Thread) are made from a complex sugar polydioxanone (PDO) – a safe suture material that has been used in surgery for over 30 years. It is a strong inducer of collagen production.
Multiple threads are inserted into the dermis of the skin through very fine needles.
They can be used to improve the quality of the skin of the entire face, neck and decolletage or they can be used in targeted problem areas, for example the loose skin in the midline of the neck.
How do MINT mono threads work?
The problem area of sagging/ lined skin is marked out. The skin is thoroughly cleaned and a local anaesthetic solution is infiltrated under the skin via a cannula. Multiple threads are inserted into the dermis of anaesthetised skin.
The threads stimulate collagen production in the skin- because of the composition-PDO-which is a strong collagen stimulator. Collagen production results in firmer skin.

I book a 60 - 90 minute appointment so there is plenty of time for the consent process, careful examination of the face, neck or decolletage, marking up, anaesthetising the areas where the threads will be inserted, cleaning and draping the skin. The actual insertion of the threads takes about 15-45 minutes, depending on the number used.

The full results will be seen around 6 weeks post procedure.

At least 1 year for most people.
Further threads can be added at any time.

There is some swelling post procedure due to the anaesthetic solution used to ensure the procedure is painless. This takes 12-24 hours to settle. Bruising is possible.
When local anaesthetic wears off, the face feels tender where the threads where placed.

The cost for a single MINT Mono thread is $10. A neck treatment would use approximately 50 threads.
