What is Botox?
Botox is a natural, highly purified protein that is extracted from the bacteria, Clostridium botulinum, under strict conditions in the laboratory. It reduces muscle contraction resulting in smoother, less wrinkled skin. All 3 brands are registered for use in only 2 or 3 areas in the upper face-the frown lines, forehead lines and “crows feet” lines. Doctors are permitted, under section 29 of the Medicines Act, to use Botox in other areas to lift down turned corners of the mouth, to smooth and relax the chin, sharpen the jaw lines, slim the lower face and give definition to the neck.
How does it work?
Botox® / Dysport®/ Xeomin® works by relaxing muscles that cause wrinkles. It does this by blocking the release of acetylcholine (the muscle contraction chemical) from nerve endings in the treated muscle. A very small dose is injected into specific muscles with a tiny needle. Once the muscles are relaxed, they cannot contract. Existing lines gradually smooth and new lines are prevented from forming.

How much does it cost?
The cost depends on the amount used. I charge per unit used rather than by area so you are only paying for what you actually need. The number of units you require to treat your concern will be discussed during your consultation so you know beforehand exactly how much your treatment will cost. I plan carefully and inject carefully – making every unit count.
